My 100-word take on American football

You may already know about Laurence Simon's "100 Word Stories" and the weekly challenge to other writers to submit same. Well, the topic of this week's competition is "Football / Referees." I opted for the first option, and you can hear the results at

http://podcasting.isfullofcrap.com/oldcrap/2006/12/weekly_challeng_69.html

Since I'm the "rookie" there, my piece comes second. And clearly I've been listening to Sigler and Hutchins for too long...

Laurence posts his own hundred-word pieces frequently. I don't think I've ever had that exact assignment (although I did do a 500-word essay -- literally -- for a college application, way back when). It's an intriguing discipline, and I'll have to try it again.

I could wish that phrase weren't so overused these days (I've heard it from just about everyone from Scott Sigler to David Spade, of all people), but that's irrelevant. Staying Dead was just plain fun, and Curse the Dark wasn't bad either.
